Stephanie Gilmore Reclaims Snapper Rocks Throne; Ethan Ewing Wins All-Queensland Final

The 2026 Bonsoy Gold Coast Pro, Stop No. 3 of the Championship Tour, ran May 1–4 at Snapper Rocks and produced a hometown sweep nobody saw coming. Eight-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore, surfing on the wave where she first won as a 17-year-old wildcard in 2005, claimed her seventh Gold Coast title with a 17.33 heat total — the highest score posted by any woman all event — to defeat new World No. 1 Luana Silva 17.33 to 14.07. On the men’s side, Queensland’s Ethan Ewing edged Japan’s Connor O’Leary 14.56 to 14.17 in a tight, tactical Final to secure his third career CT victory. The event ran in clean three-to-six foot conditions across an 11-day window briefly interrupted by a shark sighting. Filipe Toledo posted the highest single heat total of the event (18.94 in Round 3), but fell to O’Leary in the Semifinals.
